Separate the event from the interpretation
A delayed reply is an event. “They don’t respect me” is an interpretation. Both can feel equally real in the moment. Writing them separately gives you something clearer to work with.
A small practice
Choose one moment that caught your attention today. Describe what happened in one sentence without assigning motives. Then write the meaning you gave it. Ask whether another explanation is possible.
Choose the next response
You do not have to deny an emotion to respond deliberately. Notice it, give yourself a moment, and choose a next step that fits the person you want to be. The point is attention, not perfect composure.
